I love how this board came out - it has the entire family on the cutting board. The top three letters are the kids - A, K, S - and then the bottom row has the initials of the mother and father - I and S.
What really makes it work is the boarder, I think. I hadn't tried doing a full border around a board - and it was a bit tricky and took a while, requiring two additional glue-ups. Arranging the maple in the rows with the letters to work well with the maple in the blank rows also took some more time, but the end result was worth it, though.
Can't see from this picture, but it has the usual lip on the front and the side handholds and underside handholds as well.
