Gowanus Furniture Co.

This one says "BB" - it's for By Brooklyn over on Smith Street (where the old Stinky Bklyn used to be). The store is brand new and everything for sale is made in Brooklyn.

The Grand Opening is on Saturday, April 30, with a lovely little garden party in the backyard 4-7pm.  (Literally - they're growing vegetables...)

Come by and see/feel/smell a cutting board (and I do mean smell - orange and honey), and other cool stuff too.]]>

Forgot to mention, was out in the woods the weekend of April 8th.  Train up to the Tuxedo stop, hiked about 8 miles in to Big Hill Shelter, then hiked out about 12 miles to the Harriman stop.  Great trip, updated my page of public-transportation-accessible-adventures accordingly.

Just added a page for shots of all the GFC boards floating around out there.  Looking forward to adding more next week...

I was featured (mentioned?) in an article in the May issue of Popular Mechanics. Take a look:

The article is spot on. Play to your strengths. Makes me like even more the great post from 37 Signals that I tweeted on 4/13...

Be sure to take a look at some of David Yepez's work, too.

I shipped out two boards last Friday, then spent the weekend in the woods (both of which felt really good).

Here are the latest.  They're about 15" x 19", and each weigh 14lbs (nearly broke that table...). The board to the left  is "SDS".

Each board is tagged and numbered (surely in the future those with lower numbers will fetch higher prices at auction, should you ever choose to sell and cash in).

These are finished with my own blend of mineral oil, beeswax, and orange oil, (with a final thin coat of beeswax on top) and I love how the finish came out. It's so smooth.

$100 off orders placed before May 1 - get yours now for $250. The last board you (or the person you give it to) will ever need.

Start a conversation and bring people together.

Cutting boards are moving forward. The first batch will be completed in early April (finding good-quality rubber feet can be a challenge). Once producing the boards like a well-oiled machine, I’m going to play around with new bike rack ideas and am looking forward to posting the results on here. More on that later, though...

Thanks for all the feedback and questions regarding the cutting boards - much appreciated. As far as pricing, until May 1, you can order a personalized GFC cutting board for $250 - I’m looking to give a deal to my first cutting board customers. Turnaround is about two weeks.

The board is 16” x 20” x 2”, and is available one-sided with rubber feet or two-sided with an au jus groove on the reverse. You also have a choice of finishes - a harder, lower-maintenance food-safe varnish, or my own blend of mineral oil, beeswax, and orange oil.

I happen to think these boards make excellent wedding gifts. I hope you agree.

As I release other new products, I will continue to have a good introductory deal for the first buyers. Shoot me an email if you want to be updated regarding new products and specials.]]>
