Time for a trip up to the Adirondacks.  For months, I'd been trying to make a proper Backpacking Cutting Board. I wanted an approx 5" wide and 3/8" thick piece of maple, about 18" long (with a live edge on both sides) that I could use for my charcuterie and cheese boards. So much room and so easy to pack!

Well, not so easy to make. Each time I built a jig to saw the log, I learned I needed a more sophisticated jig. So much for that.

So much for that. I'll try again soon, but, in the meantime, for this trip, I'll just bring this small guy, which will ably serve when cutting any meats or cheeses. Not the best as far as ounce-miles, but better than using the package.Meats and cheese (and most likely some bourbon) on the menu. Follow me on Twitter to see pics of the board in action.
