Choose a width to fit your space from 13" to 22", and a length from 16" to 32". Thicknesses can be from 1 1/2" up to 3". (We can do larger boards as well.)
Some of the boards you see here are are walnut, or blends of woods. We can also make a solid maple, cherry, or beech cutting boards. Any wood can look great.
Walnut and blends are a bit more expensive, maple, cherry, and beech are a bit less. (Walnut is a considerably more expensive wood, and to do a blend right takes time - they're not thrown together.)
We're working on having a series of menus with prices to choose the woods, length, width, and thickness, but, as you can imagine, we have a few hundred combinations and it takes some time. Until we have that set - shoot us an email to orders@gowanusfurniture.com and we'll get back to you with a quote post haste.
Walnut is the darkest wood, has a great range of tones (browns to blacks to gray to blues, subtle reds, or even blues) that we like to celebrate.
Cherry starts out pink-ish, and as it ages it turns to a rich, dark red.
Maple is the lightest in color and the hardest wood, and will stay pretty consistent.
When putting a cutting board together, if there are some cool variations (like a piece of cherry with a strip of light whitish sapwood), we'll incorporate that thoughtfully into the board, rather than hide it on the underside or something. We like to think that's what differentiates our boards - we love to use the variations present in the wood.
We ask for 3-4 weeks to make these boards, but if we can get them done sooner, we will. To get started, shoot an email to orders@gowanusfurniture.com.
Ignore that sentence below - NOT "unavailable" - just shoot us an email instead to place an order for the time being...
