Fibonacci Cutting Board

If you get it, you'll like it.

Here at Gowanus Furniture Co., we like our glued joints tight and our cutting boards cerebral.

The walnut stripes are a visual representation of the Fibonacci sequence - the maple spacing is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, etc., as you can see. You're probably thinking either, "amaaAAAaaaaazing!!" or perhaps "My weird math nerd friend would probably like this, I guess..."

You can read more about it here, but basically it's a sequence that frequently appears in nature and can be used to explain natural phenomena. We were fans way before its recent resurgence in popular culture post-The Da Vinci Code nonsense, but we were hardly the first - the sequence has been known since the 13th century.

(It's like how I can't wear my Unknown Pleasures shirt anymore... ugh.)

Same size and feature set as our standard "Kentile" cutting boards (about 13" x 16" x 1 1/4" thick), with a maple for the background, walnut for the stripes, and cherry front and back. (A card explaining what the Fibonacci sequence is all about is included as well.) Wall mountable, too, of course, with all necessary hardware included.

(Note: currently only available without the "divot" - it'll be a regular - but still exceptional! - cutting board like our Kentile.)

(If we need to make more, we generally do it in a large batch once per month, usually near the end of the month, so delivery may be a couple weeks, but not too long. If any questions, shoot Pete an email at pete@gowanusfurniture.com.)
